I was the weird kid who actually LOVED Girls Camp. There was something about being with my peers, out away from school, extracurriculars, and life in general that was so freeing for me.
It probably helped that my family camped a lot. Hitching up our old pop-up trailer and going to state parks was cheaper than getting a hotel for 6 people. And it turns out it was probably more fun too!
And I'd be remiss to omit that working in wilderness therapy right after college has also played a key role in helping me find my own feet in the wilderness and ground my heart and mind in the natural rhythms that bring so much peace and power.
So, a couple years ago, I started dreaming. And last year, I booked a campsite...just to see what could be. And some amazing women showed up to confirm to me just how amazing "girls camp" is when you're an adult and get to lead your own adventures (and have all your favorite camping foods).
Some of us climbed. Some paddled. Some played games. And all of us basked in the glorious experience of women gathering, talking, supporting, and growing together.
So,in the name of science, we're going to try the experiment again and see if the theory still holds up: women gathering in the wilderness creates an alchemy of tender, vulnerable power.
